bio/resume
design - BIM modeling - presentation renderings
March 20, 2013 Bio.
Lloyd is an independent residential designer and a
studio artist. He has over 30 years experience with
a wide variety of building types and has served on
design teams and construction document teams for
several prestigious architectural firms and designers
in New Mexico, Oregon and Texas. He has participated
successfully in over 20 architectural design
competitions and has worked with a number of interns
as mentor over the years. Recent architectural design
work has included elementary and high schools in
New Mexico and 3D presentations as a consultant to
Santa Fe designers, Edy Keeler and Thomas Lehn and
architects Robert Zachry and Suby Bowden Associates.
Today Lloyd has his design and painting studio in
Corrales, New Mexico. He is currently working on the
design for a residential Zen Buddhist center in
northern New Mexico and a guest house in Santa Fe, NM.
He is also presently working on the design for a
personal meditation chamber. In addition to traditional
presentation media, he uses state of the art 3D digital
graphics for his architectural visualizations and
animated presentations. In his painting and sculpture
studio he works in oil, watercolor, acrylic and
mixed media.
Lloyd's work, both in art studio and for residential
design, most often reflects an aesthetic rooted in an
understanding of the creative processes, of Harmony
and Beauty as described by physicist David Bohm,
physicist Basil Hiley, musicologist Jean Klein,
indigenous peoples abiding interdependence, and
the experiential directness of Zen Buddhism. He has
practiced a meditation technique which which is similar to
Buddhist Zazen or Dzogchen for over ten years.
Lloyd studied fine arts at the University of Texas -
Arlington and was awarded a number of scholarships
for competitive design student portfolios. Lloyd was a
jury accepted member of the Santa Fe Society of Artists
and has shown his work in a number of Santa Fe galleries.
He was a combat artist/illustrator for the US Navy in
Danang and Saigon, Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
